Mohamad Charafeddine is one of the core algorithm system engineers at ASSIA Inc, a Silicon Valley based telecommunication software startup specializing in the Dynamic Spectrum Management (DSM) of DSL lines. With less than 3 years since the company’s commercial product launch, ASSIA now diagnoses, optimizes, and manages over 15% of the world’s DSL lines. Mohamad also maintains a keen interest in entrepreneurial activities in the Silicon Valley and in the Middle East. In 2003, together with a Stanford schoolmate, he started Orfalis, a software company based in Amman, Jordan. In 2005, Orfalis and UniTicker co-founded, a top tier financial software in the ME. Mohamad is a strong advocate of bringing economic and social change to the ME through education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He won the Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Communications in 2009. Mohamad holds a B.E. with High Distinction from the American University of Beirut, and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Stanford University, all in Electrical Engineering.
